Cawston Ostrich Farm, South Pasadena

Taken around 1925 – that’s my dad, 3rd kid from the left, being held by my grandma – don’t know the middle woman, but that’s grandma’s brother, Mack, with the hat. My Aunt Eunie (Dad’s sis) is the little girl on the cart, and I don’t know who the next kid is. I looked up the Cawston Ostrich Farm, and found it opened in 1896 and closed in the late 1920’s. I love this photo and was delighted to find it among the old family albums my step mom keeps. Wonder if there’s a Vintage Kids with Ostrichs group to join at flickr?…. (candyruth)

candyruth… you make me smile… this is another wonderful photo you have in your delightful collection.. thank you for sharing… tiandra…

  1. These photos really take me back. I really am an antique,my 77th birthday coming up in days. My dad was a commercial photographer in the 20’s. All of his developing and printing was done in our basement. Oh that used to stink.
I was almost an antique when I sailed across the Pacific ocean alone. Come visit me.
