Cawston Ostrich Farm, South Pasadena

Taken around 1925 – that’s my dad, 3rd kid from the left, being held by my grandma – don’t know the middle woman, but that’s grandma’s brother, Mack, with the hat. My Aunt Eunie (Dad’s sis) is the little girl on the cart, and I don’t know who the next kid is. I looked up the Cawston Ostrich Farm, and found it opened in 1896 and closed in the late 1920’s. I love this photo and was delighted to find it among the old family albums my step mom keeps. Wonder if there’s a Vintage Kids with Ostrichs group to join at flickr?…. (candyruth)

candyruth… you make me smile… this is another wonderful photo you have in your delightful collection.. thank you for sharing… tiandra…

Camping 1955

This is the trailer we had for many years of weekend and weeklong camping trips. As mentioned in the previous photo, my aunt and uncle had the same trailer and we often met at some campground or national park.
A couple of years later, Dad got a newer (’56) Buick that had the same 2-tone design as the trailer and had the trailer painted to match the car. It was a sight to behold. Then, in 1961, my parents sold the trailer so we could get new carpets in the bedrooms. An odd trade-up….(candyruth)

Mom & Dad at Disneyland (1956), originally uploaded by candyruth.

This was within the first year Disneyland opened and boy were we all excited! We lived only about 25 miles away, and it was the favorite place to go for birthdays (my sister and I could each bring one friend for such occasions) and to take visiting relatives. It’s still one of my favorites!… (candyruth)

Wow candyruth… this is such a wondeful vintage photo.. clicked in the first year Disneyland opened up.. wow… so very interesting i must say… thank you candyruth for sharing… tiandra…

Thank you A Wallis for sharing this gem with us… your entire photo-stream is so very interesting… love the back end click of this Plymouth… especially since it is clicked in Newfoundland.. this adds an even greater intrigue for me… Newfoundland… although i have only been there one time.. holds a charm in my mind which is almost sacred… its hard to explain… but i think it has to do with how gentle the people of the land are.. the great hospitality extended one who takes time to visit the rock….

again… thank you for sharing… tiandra…
